NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND OPEN HOUSE UTAH TRANSIT AUTHORITY
RE: Environmental Assessment document available for public comment for the proposed Ogden/Weber State University Transit Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Service. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is proposing to implement a new BRT service from the UTA’s FrontRunner commuter-rail station at the Ogden Intermodal Transit Center to Weber State University and McKay-Dee Hospital. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and UTA have prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Ogden/Weber State University Transit Project. The EA describes the transportation and environmental impacts associated with constructing and operating a new BRT system through Ogden City in Weber County, Utah.
The EA will be available for public review and comment from December 9, 2018 to January 20, 2019. During this period, the EA will be available for review at the following locations:
- UTA Headquarters – 669 West 200 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101
- UTA Ogden Intermodal Transit Center – 2393 Wall Avenue, Ogden, Utah 84401
- Ogden City Offices – 2549 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah 84401

All comments on the EA must be received, postmarked or electronically submitted to UTA by midnight on January 20, 2019 to be considered as part of the public comment record.

At the public open house, UTA will have the EA available for review and comment, along with information about the project. UTA representatives will be present to review and discuss the EA, provide information and answer questions.
In compliance with the Americans with Disability Act and to assure full participation at the public open house, a Spanish language interpreter will be available. Additional accommodations for effective communication such as sign language interpreters, printed materials in alternative formats or a language interpreter for non-English speaking participants, must be requested at least five (5) working days prior to the date of the scheduled event. PROJECT AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT BACKGROUND:
The proposed Ogden/Weber State University Transit Project would provide BRT service from the UTA’s FrontRunner commuter-rail line and the Ogden Intermodal Transit Center to Weber State University and McKay-Dee Hospital. The proposed project would replace the existing route 603 bus service with 5.3 miles of BRT service at 10 to 15 minute frequencies and include 13 enhanced bus stations. The BRT buses would operate in dedicated bus-only lanes for 2.2 miles on Harrison Boulevard and through the Weber State University campus.
In accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, and 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 800, FTA and UTA herewith advise all interested persons and groups that the proposed project would have an adverse effect on one historic property (1341 Country Hills Drive) eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). FTA has determined that mitigation measures for the adverse effect to this property from the proposed project have been completed, and the Utah State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) concurred. Details are provided in the EA.
